Indiana Jones

My work took everyone to see Indiana Jones last night. We got free concessions and no previews! It was good action, but I thought it was really cheesy, completely unrealistic, and the whole story line was kind of cooky, especially the end. Harrison Ford's pretty old and you could tell as he was running and jumping, but nice job overall.

Clocky Robotic Alarm

Thanks to my sister-in-law for the link! This is pretty crazy! Meet the Clocky Robotic Alarm. An engineering student invented it. It leaps off of your night stand, and drives around your room, making random turns and racing away from your grasp. This might just be the solution to my problem, although I did wake up after only 1 snooze this morning!

ExSNOOZE me?

Does anyone else have a problem with snoozing their alarm clock? My husband gets after me a lot for this, but bottom line is: I love my sleep! I tell him, "If you had to be at work at 7:00 you'd sleep in too!" I will be very motivated at night and say, "I'm going to get up early tomorrow and get ready" or "I'll just wake up early and do it." And IT NEVER HAPPENS. My body knows that I can snooze, so I do. The last couple nights I moved my alarm clock from my nightstand to my bookcase about a foot away from my feet, to get me up and going. I get up alright, but just hit snooze and crawl back under the covers. I've been better and it has helped a little because now I leave about 20 minutes to get ready instead of 3. BTW, I have always had a problem with this, just ask anyone in my family, but this is the first job I've had in the morning, so it kills me! That is the ONLY complaint I have about my job. The End

Cruelty

[May 17]
The Animal Advocacy Alliance of Utah held a fundraiser today to cover medical bills for a kitten that was burned deliberately.
The kitten was found in a Glendale neighborhood and could become the first case to test Henry's law, which now makes animal abuse a felony in Utah.
Veternarians expect the kitten to recover.
A reward fund has also been created to help catch the person responsible.

[May 27]

For the second time in two weeks, an animal rights group is offering a reward in a case of cruelty to kittens.
KSL told you last week about a kitten that was tortured with burns to her tail, feet, whiskers and back.
Now witnesses say a driver in Washington County tossed two cats out of his car window then ran over one of them, killing it instantly. The other kitten is expected to survive with a compound leg fracture.
The Animal Advocacy Alliance of Utah is offering a $1,000 reward in the case.

Stampin Up

I look forward to going every month! Here are the latest cards...

Update

Because of our lack of luck, we're not moving to Cedar City right now. We're going to stick around for another 9-12 months and then try again.

Overboard

With Ryan gone Saturday night I got a little motivated and cleaned out my makeup stock. I found products that I haven't used since Middle School, and mostly found out that I have a lot of crap that I used once, and will probably never use again. I threw a lot of things away, and made everything more organized AND had fun puting a lot on and being a makeup artist for one night. Here is my stash and my "smokey eye."

Mother's Day

The funniest memory I have of my mom is when she'd wear her yellow dress on Sundays and dance around singing the "yellow canary" song. Anytime mom dances is pretty funny, especially to NSync. The biggest lesson that she taught me that stands out is to be kind and to have compassion for others and love everyone. My favorite characteristic of my mom is her willingness to serve. She does so much for other people. Her best personality trait is she's the best listener and she's very sensitive to other's feelings. She will always stop what she's doing to listen to whatever I have to say. She genuinely cares for other people. What do I see in me from her? I have her ears, sweat glands, and hair. I also love to find good deals and go shopping, sing alto, and play the piano like her. Here are just some of the things my mom has done for me:

-Supported me in everything
-Stayed up until I got home so we could talk
-Paid for my schooling/extra curricular activities
-Never stops believing in me, encouraging me every step of the way.
-Laughed and cried with me.
-Did my laundry all the way through High School and College.
-Home cooked meals.
-Let me drive her cars through High School and College.
-Loved me every day no matter what!

I love you Mom. Happy Mother's Day.

Refreshment

I made cookies to bring to Aminis' house last night. Ryan was disgusted when I told him they have carrots in them, but they are really good. They taste like banana bread, or carrot cake. They're even pretty healthy, plus I used whole wheat flour, so that helps balance out the 1 C. shortening. (Or so I pretend) Don't take my word for it. Try them! They're from the Lion House Classics, so you know they're delish!

Iced Carrot Cookies
1 cup shortening

3⁄4 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 cup cooked, mashed carrots
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1⁄2 teaspoon salt
3⁄4 cup coconut

In large mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs; beat until fluffy. Add mashed carrots. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt; add to creamed mixture. Stir in coconut. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes. Cool, then ice with
Orange Frosting. Makes 4 dozen small cookies.

Orange Frosting
1 tablespoon orange juice

2 teaspoons grated orange peel
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons soft margarine

In small bowl, combine all ingredients; stir until well mixed.

Eventful Weekend

Typically I do not have plans on weekends, but this weekend I had a double dose. My work gave out free tickets to the What a Woman Wants Show at the South Towne Expo center. I went with my sister Saturday evening, and we had a good time. Saturday night Ryan got off work early and we went to Iron Man with his brother and his girlfriend. It is very good! The sequel is set for the Summer of 2010. Go see it! We went to the 10:30 showing and didn't get home until almost 1:00. Yikes! Combine that with 9:00 church and it's not a good combination. I took advantage of the day of rest and slept most the day.

The graduate

My oldest sister Toni graduated last night from SLCC's dental hygiene program. I went straight from work and got there just in time to hear her name called and receive her certificate. I had my camera, but the batteries needed to be changed so I don't have any to post. Here's to all your hard work! I love you Toni!

This is the only picture I could find of her at the moment

A night out

I work 2 jobs, so I usually don't have time to relax between them and getting everything else done. I've been really busy working overtime at work and just feel overwhelmed. I came home Tuesday night to find my bathrobe, a bubble bath with candles and music all awaiting me. The hubs, he's good. I took a long needed bath then sat down to a nice candle lit 3 course meal, all done by Ryan. {notice the blanket tablecloth!} I guess my stress was noticeable because he did all this for me. It was a very nice evening. Thanks babe.
