Just a reminder..

I read 'Sharing the Gospel Using the Internet' by M Russell Ballard again the other day and I love it. It's such a reminder of what I can and should be doing with my blog. The internet is so powerful and I am able to touch so many lives through its use. Here he is challenging us to join the ranks. If you'd like to read the article it is here.

Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince

This was by far my favorite Harry Potter book. Wow! Did you know that the young Voldemort is being played by Ralph Fiennes nephew? Neat. I..can't...wait for Nov. 21. That's all I have to say...

The boys and their dad

Our cats LOVE Ryan. They usually don't let me snuggle or pet them, but they go to Ryan a lot. I'll let this picture do the explaining..

$100 store

Ryan got us a Costco membership at the beginning of the year. It was not my choice. I do not like the store. I use it for gas, and that's it. We decided to give it a try last night and see what we could find. Well we found a lot, but honestly the prices aren't that great! Ryan's mom loves it, but then again she has seven kids. She calls it the $100 dollar store because you can't leave without spending at least $100. We only bought 15 things and it was over $100! I can get 3 times that much at any grocery store and pay about half with my super shopping skills and trusty rusty coupons! Besides they don't even bag your items, it closes at 8:30, and you have to get 'checked' before you leave. Ryan threw the receipt away and had to go clear back in the store to get a print, just so we could leave! Honestly! Down with Costco! They did have less expensive milk. I guess I enjoy all the enormous bagged candy. That's the only reason I'd go back. What's your opinion?

Pink

Ryan's brother is getting married next week. His fiance wants us to wear pink for the reception. I needed a color sample so I could find the right shirt so his brother dropped off a shirt for me yesterday. My mother-in-law bought it for Ryan's sister, but she didn't like it. Thanks Debbie! She saved me the hassle and money of finding the right shade to wear. How does it look? (Minus the blue shirt underneath, of course!)

Sorry about all the movie reviews...maybe I should become a critic! I feel lame because these movies are on video and all of you have already probably seen them already, but oh well. I do enjoy reading your comments. This movie was interesting. Very unlike I had anticipated. I had heard good things about it. First of all, did anyone else think the professor was awful? I couldn't believe how he manipulated the students and if they didn't do things "his way" he failed them! Also, it was kind of an awkward teacher/student relationship, wouldn't you agree? Something just felt wrong about it... a secret gambling club, that just brings up tons of red flags for me. Secondly, it was dumb of the kid to hide his money in the ceiling, I mean, c'mon! With that much you better believe it's going straight to the bank! I felt kind of bad at the end when he tricked the professor. What ever happened to "do unto others" or "forgive and forget." I know I would've probably done the same thing though. That's a lot of money to lose. And then to have to give it to that dumb security guy at the end. I had the end figured out though, I knew he'd end up getting the scholarship anyway, so it all turned out in the end, right?

Moral: gambling is addictive and can control your life. Just say no! Nice idea though, can you imagine?

Talk

Ryan and I spoke in church yesterday. It was our first time speaking together and I must say we did a pretty good job. We used up the whole time, and Ryan delivered exactly what our bishop was looking for. We're both really glad it's over and we can relax now.

The Dark Knight

*spoiler alert*

We used our free tickets and took our neighbor's to see "The Dark Knight" Saturday night. The Joker definately stole the show. Amazing. Batman's "evil" voice drove me nuts. I'm a little confused by a few things...what was with the ending? Who was supposed to get Rachel? I thought it would leave a clue about the next one, if there is going to be one, but no! I'm surprised they killed off Two-Face so quickly. He would've been a great villain.. oh well. I agree with what all the critics say about Heath Ledger's performance, but I don't think it's the best movie of the year. I think I enjoyed "Iron Man" much more.

Icovia

I've been dreaming of the day when we can afford to buy some new furniture. I came across this cool thing at RCWilley.com. It's a room planner and you can add furniture and move things around to get a visual of a room. I've been playing with it for hours and thought I'd share what I'd like my living room to look like right now.
A girl can dream, right? Go have some fun daydreaming! http://www.rcwilley.com/RoomPlanner.jsp

Guitar Hero

Ryan and I went over to my sister's house last night for some fabulous homemade pizza and games. We started the night off with some kareoke, which was so fun. I used to do it in High School all the time and college. I'd never played Guitar Hero before so I gave it a try. Needless to say, I'm terrible! I guess my rhythm just went out the window. I'd like to become better, so I may be coming over a lot more Tara.

No competition!

Ryan and I used to have Netflix; however, we have now converted to Redbox. We can get 4 free movies a month from Redbox, instead of paying $10 a month with Netflix. I know, we're cheap skates...Sign up at the website and they will text you with a coupon code every Monday for a free rental. It's great! Last night we watched "I Am Legend." I know that "Hancock" is the Will Smith movie out now, but we're trying to catch up! We were scared out of our minds! I didn't really enjoy the end, but what can ya do. Ryan decided it would be funny to scare me in the bathroom. I almost cried and started hitting and kicking him, then I locked him out of the bathroom. I was screaming at the tv during this scene:

yikes!

Memories

1. Leave one memory that you and I had together, as a comment on my blog. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!
2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments.

Tara/Flashback Friday

Meet Tara, my older sister. Born on 7/11 she has never taken advantage of the free slushies! Besides that point, she is amazing. Just take a look at the pictures and you'll see the many things she's accomplished in her 24 years. She has, just to name a few...

  • sewn my sister-in-laws wedding dress
  • has made and continues to make many clothes
  • started a book club just for me
  • been in 2 pageants
  • finally got to marry her long time crush
  • taught a city sign language class
  • been in many plays/musicals all over the state (and Idaho!)
  • very talented in piano/viola/voice/dance
  • graduated with her bachelors in English from BYU w/scholarships!

I could go on and on! As you can see I think all the genes for talent/creativity/brains ran out after her, she really has and can do it all! Although I have done almost everything before her ;) and we don't like any of the same movies, I hope she knows how much I still admire and look up to her. I love you Tara! See you Sunday.

(Oh, and let me know if I forgot to add something to my list!)

Wall-Eeeee, Eeeeva!

Movie Review:

We had time to sneak in a movie with the fam on July 4th. I really enjoyed Wall-E. It's got a unique story and a lot of good messages. There is some controversy regarding how weight is portrayed in this film because people are carted around in floating chairs and never look away from their video monitors. Some reviewers even said: “From the first moment of the film, my kids were bombarded with leftist propaganda about the evils of mankind.” Shannen Coffin of the National Review “I looked at my wife and I said, it’s a frickin’ global warming movie, it is how we destroyed the Earth.” Glenn Beck.

In reality, this movie took a look at what's happening now to a logical conclusion-one that people should think about. It's not preachy by any means. The overweight people are nice, and the moral of the story? You can change things if you try.
Let me know what you thought of it.

4th part 2

Sorry, apparently picasa only uploads 4 pics at a time. Here's part 2

This is Sheeka. Ryan's brother's dog. Those eyes are kinda freaky!

Brianna, taking a break from the hot sun.

We got to the Brigham City park early this year and enjoyed the music and played games while awaiting the fireworks.

We went to Perry again this year for the 4th. After Ryan's softball game we headed over to the car show. It was fun to see all the cars old and new. Here are some of our favorites!
