and so it begins

Softball season started a few weeks ago. Because of Ryan's surgery and the rain he hasn't played very much but for one of his games I took our neighbors dog. He loved being outside and just wanted to walk around the whole night. We got in about 20 minutes before the game and then when i went to sit and watch he started whining so off we went again. I walked him the whole game. He was one happy pup.

Ryan plays Tuesday & Thursday Night Softball. Here's to a 25 game season!

St George/Arizona

Ryan played in a tournament in St George on March 4-5
They took 2nd place!
He said the prize was the same for 1st place, so they didn't feel too bad. They got a trophy and a new bat.

From St George he kept going south and spent the next week in Arizona enjoying the 80 degree weather and lots of MLB baseball.
For those that don't know, all the MLB teams go to spring training each year. About half go to AZ and the other half FL. Twelve teams went to AZ this year. Ryan went down with his buddy and went to a game each night. They got tons of autographs and a nice tan.

Softball Champs

The softball team Ryan plays on won the championship Thursday. We got pictures with their t-shirts and trophy and then we had to hurry over to their other league to play a game. That league ends this week so we'll see if they get another championship. I told Ryan it's time to retire...

During this game he got hit in the head with the ball while sliding to 3rd base. He was down for a few minutes but is fine, just a large bump on the head.

2nd place

Ryan played in a softball tournament in Ogden over the 24th of July. For those of you that don't know, Ryan plays softball 3 nights a week, plus tournaments on the weekend. Yes, you could say he's hard core. He plays with both of his brothers in two South Jordan leagues and a league in Brigham City. Anyway, he played in a tournament Friday night, which I didn't go to because I was at the Bee's game. (More on that later) They won all their games Saturday and got to the finals, but they took 2nd place. Check out their 2nd place trophy!

Nice work boys!

Last week they played in the finals in their Spring South Jordan league. They played and won 3 games in a row, then lost the final game, getting second place again. They didn't get a trophy, t-shirt, or plaque. LAME! We went out to eat at Arby's afterwards though and had a great time!
On a happier note they did win the softball tournament in Perry over the 4th of July....

Montpelier, ID

The last weekend in May we drove to Montpelier, ID with his brother and friends for a softball tournament. It was freezing and rainy all weekend but look at this beautiful rainbow by Bear Lake!

For the first game Saturday morning Jessica and I stayed and watched from the nice, warm car.

The tournament was kind of ridiculous and they lost sooner than expected. It was a short trip but we had fun! We ate dinner at the only place in town open past 9:00 at a truck stop.

On the way home we stopped to eat at a yummy Chinese Buffet in Northern Utah

Fun, Family and Softball!!!

Last weekend we headed down to St. George yet again for another softball tournament. I took a half day at work then we headed down with Jessica, Aaron, and Bobby. We had a fun ride down and got to enjoy a wonderful dutch oven dinner provided by Ryan and Aaron's uncle in St. George. Their 1st game started at 11 PM, so after BP we headed over to their cousin Brian's house to relax. I think we all relaxed a little too much because we were all very tired before the game even started. They did very well in all of their games that night, winning one but losing two. Saturday we went to Judd's store and got some Rat Bastard root beer and Orange Cream soda. We hung out all day until their 1st game at 7:00. They played 4 games in a row, going 2-2 and played their last game at 11 PM. We got to bed at a decent hour, then had a nice ride home the next day. All in all it was a fun time with some late nights...and they went pretty deep into the tournament (not like last time ...0-3) and got to spend some time with family as well!

The 4th

4th of July, 2006 Fireworks.Image by ohad* via Flickr

As per tradition we spent the 4th of July up in Perry. Ryan and his brother had a great softball team this year and they ended up winning the softball tournament! They creamed their dad and sister's team (sorry!) But it was fun! They even got a t-shirt to prove it ;) It was a little cooler all day, but heated up fast AFTER I changed into jeans of course. We randomly saw my aunt and uncle at the Perry park as well! I guess they used to live there twenty some odd years ago. I was a 'lil disappointed in the Brigham City fireworks. At one point there was a really long pause between them and we weren't quite sure if there was a finale or not. Overall, a fun weekend with family.

Softball anyone?

Two weeks ago I did end up going away with Ryan. I ditched all responsibility and Ryan and I drove to Delta Utah with his brother and wife for an all night softball tournament. Ryan's brother had a spot open on his team, so of course, Ryan jumped at the opportunity. Luckily Jessica was there with me to keep me awake. Their first game was at 10:00 PM, then 1:00 AM, then 4:00 AM. We had a good time eating junk food and playing games. They lost all 3 games, but good thing because by the 3rd game we were ready to sleep! If they would have won, we would've been there until the afternoon. We got home around 7:30 AM, then slept until 4:00, went to dinner then went back to bed. I'm definitely getting too old for all-nighters...not in college anymore...
