Camping and Pioneer Day

We had a ward campout a few weeks ago in Jemez., it was a lot of fun. We borrowed a tent from the bishop and the zipper was broken so we ended up duct taping it shut. We had a fireside that night (and s'mores) then stayed up past midnight playing games.

The next morning we had a great breakfast then after we took down camp we lingered a little longer and Ryan was throwing the football with some guys. He can't wait for football season.

That night our Stake had a pioneer day celebration. Some of our friends really got into the spirit.

Dinner was supposed to be @ 5, but when we got there a few minutes early there was no food or anyone in charge. Ryan and another Bishop took over and ended up cooking all the food. His eyes and face were all red from grilling for over an hour. They had way more people show up than anticipated. It didn't seem like it was a very well planned activity.

but...they did have goat rides..

and games for the kids..

and folk dancing.

For July's Pack Mtg we had the Air Force Honor Guard come do a flag ceremony and teach us how to fold a flag. It was very neat to watch.

Everyone got to join in on the fun.

i don't understand tattoos

when we watch NBA games we can't help but notice all the tattoos. i don't know about you but i don't understand them. how much thought do you think goes into a tattoo? do they realize that it will be on their body forever? it seems like nba players have the most tattoos. we're watching the nuggets/warriors game and my husband said that he thinks denver's players have the most tattoos. i did a 'lil search on google and found some interesting ones. enjoy:

they call him "birdman" He actually has red wings tattooed on both arms, so when he flaps them after a dunk or a blocked shot, it's as if he's flying. ... and just hideous
Jason Williams decided to go with the less popular "WHIT" "EBOY". What a knucklehead.
"The Suicidal Cartoon" - There are no words. Just look at this tattoo and think about whether it's something you'd want permanently marked on your body.

Those lips belong to his girlfriend, Trina. She actually kissed a piece of paper, then Kenyon had her lip print tattooed on his neck.

just as ryan suspected three of these players are
currently on the Denver Nuggets.
how do you feel about tattoos? would you ever get one?
what would it be and where?

10/23

Ryan's sister Alyssa is on CSI's volleyball team. On October 23rd they played our alma mater, CEU at Price. Of course, I couldn't miss an opportunity to go to Price. I haven't been back since college 3 1/2 years ago and I miss it! I drove down with Jess and Aaron and I'm sure they got sick of me talking about a simpler life at college. I wore my CEU shirt which didn't make Ryan's family very happy, but I justified it because their school colors are the same and they're both golden eagles. Close enough, right? Both teams played very well, but at the end CEU won. This was a big deal for them because, let's be honest, they're not very good. It was pretty awkward after that around the family and Alyssa and the team were pretty bummed, but all in all it's OK because last weekend Alyssa's team won the NJCAA National Championship! That is CSI's 9th National Championship! We're so proud of Alyssa and got to watch them win live online. What a great accomplishment!

What a hottie!

Sorry about the red eyes. Sportin' CEU (taken with my phone)
