For our YW activity this week we went to one of the girl's lacrosse games. She plays for Olympus and did great! It was freezing if you couldn't tell from the picture and it even started snowing a bit during the game. Girl's Camp is in 8 weeks and we're beginning to worry that we might be camping in the snow. I'm so ready for Summer!

Bee's birthday
We went to our first Bee's game of the season Saturday for Syd's birthday. We got to know the players well last season and none of them are there this year so that was kind of a bummer. It was freezing! They had fireworks after and it didn't seem quite right to be shivering during them, not used to that.
We went to Mimi's for dinner then went to Iceberg after the game, of course.

Ryan got his poor ingrown toenails operated on last week. He's had problems with them for about 10 years and says it's because of playing so many sports. They're still pretty tender, but he has no infection so they should heal up pretty quickly in the next few days. After the doc numbed him he watched the whole procedure. I thought I could handle hearing the details but got really faint when he was explaining it and had to leave the room and go lay down.
Yikes! No fun at all

Gifts
Sydney got me this herb garden for my birthday.
I'm really nervous about killing the plants. I've already used the oregano and parsley. So far, so good. It's so great to have fresh herbs!
We went up to Ryan's parents house Sunday. His mom made me an ice cream cake that was delicious and got me an assortment of cookie cutters since all I had were Halloween ones. We also got a burger press. The girls painted nails and we played games and had a great time.
Monday night we went over to Sydney's neighbor's house and went hot tubbing. Ryan LOVES hot tubs and could stay in them for hours. It's definitely on his "must have" list when we get a house someday. It was getting too hot for me though and started to rain pretty hard so I got out.

Extreme Couponer
Friday night Ryan was camping with some friends so I took advantage of not having to cook and used some of my free coupons!
Lunch at Noodle's & Company
World Market.
I paid just $.14 for 4 items. I had a 10% off coupon and a $10 off coupon.
Walked over to Red Mango and used my $5 off reward. Spent just $.75.
Chocolate and mango, yum!

For dinner I got my free sandwich, chips and a drink from Schlotzsky's Deli.
I ended the night by watching a blockbuster express movie I also got for free!
"Life as we know it"
cute movie and fun day!

My birthday!
My birthday was wonderful this year! It was on a Saturday AND it didn't snow, so I call that a success.
We woke up and went to Denny's for breakfast. I used my free grand slam coupon.
Oh, here was my free stuff from last year
and this year...
so fun!
I had to put it in order and plan out my days. Most coupons are good for a few weeks before and after my birthday. Post on that coming later...
We came home, took a nap then used some previous movie credits to go see "source code," which was pretty good.
Then we met up with Syd for dinner at Red Robin. I had a free burger and a gift card so our meal was free!

After dinner we took trax downtown to the Off Broadway Theater and went to the improv show "Laughing Stock." I've been watching old re-runs of "Whose Line is it Anyway" lately and was really in the mood for some laughs.
Then, of course we ended the night at Iceberg where I got my free birthday shake! I was a little disappointed with my shake choice though. I got peach and it tasted like vanilla with a few peach chunks along the way ;(
It was a great day and now I'm a quarter of a century old...

Less than desirable
This weekend we went to our good friend Kristin's bridal shower in Provo. She's a friend from college and we danced together on drill team. I haven't seen her since her mission farewell.
She has the most amazing story of how she met her fiancée. The engagement's been rough since he lives in Chicago, but she's hangin in there. (only about 40 days left) She's a returned missionary and such a great person. We're so happy for you Kristin!
After the shower we braved the storm and headed down to Spanish Fork to visit my sister. Syd hasn't seen little Henry since his blessing day and we brought some Easter candy for the kiddos.
In other news, we had a health fair at work today and I got my blood tested. Everything looks fine except my cholesterol is still high! It's been high for about 3 years that I have record of. I've tried regular exercise, diet changes even to the extreme of going vegan and so I've come to the conclusion that it's just genetics.

General Conference
As per tradition Syd and I went to Conference together. This time; however, it didn't rain on us. It was actually quite nice! (Saturday, that is)
We lucked out and got tickets to both sessions on Saturday and a parking pass.
Last Conference, in October, we tried to meet up with my cousin, Elder Bills, at the reflection pool, but just missed him. I knew he'd be at the reflection pool again so between sessions I said to Syd, "Wouldn't it be cool if we just ran into him without even trying?"
That's what happened.
I said "Elder Bills!"
I don't think he recognized me at first. It's been a few years since I've seen him. It was so great to talk for a few minutes. He's been serving in the Salt Lake North mission and goes home in a few weeks. We even saw him again as we were walking to our car.
Sydney told me she had a "mystery guest" coming to the afternoon session. She wouldn't tell me who, but I had no idea it would be Joe. We went to college with Joe, in fact his older brother was Ryan's roommate when we first met. It's been 5 years since I've seen him! It was great to catch up.
I got these pictures from my cousin's latest email. He got in early to get a seat and sat in the 3rd row! He said he could hear President Uchtdorf's pen clicking.
He got Sunday afternoon tickets from President Holland.
(Side note: my mom is Patricia Holland's cousin so we have an IN)
i.e my aunt calls his office to get tickets. She's closest in age to Patricia and they were quite close growing up. He also confirmed her a member of the church.
See this post.
There is a lot of security and you can't go up on the stand and talk with the General Authorities unless they come down to you. He waited, but didn't get to talk with anyone. He saw Elder Perry and Elder Scott and also Mitt Romney though.
I feel so blessed to live in Utah and to be able to go to Conference every six months. Some members of the church will never get that opportunity. I really love being in the Conference center. It's easier to focus, feel the Spirit and pay attention.
What great testimonies and messages were given. My faith is renewed and I do believe we need these messages and reminders. Life is hard and the world can be a scary place. The gospel is the MOST important thing and I know that our trials and worries and everyday stresses are easier to manage when we live obediently and stay close to the Lord.
