Thats Gross! (Pun intended)

While trying to find something to write about today I found some inspiration. Meet Jake Sully.

Welp, James Cameron finally managed to beat that boat movie he made. It's official: Avatar, which is sort of a sci-fi thing that's currently playing in theaters, has surpassed Titanic's worldwide box office, with a $1.859 billion total so far. Of course, Tooth Fairy is just gaining momentum, so...


It should also be noted that Cameron's film only holds the highest grossing title if you don't adjust for inflation; otherwise, Gone with the Wind still takes the top spot.

We even saw it in 3D (gasp!). We loved it. Also, Titanic was on tv the other day. It brought back memories of seeing it with my sister in the theater without my parents permission. Yea, I know. But it's ok cuz she covered my eyes during that one part. I was a 'lil rebellious back in the day. I blame my sister for the corruption. But that's a confession post for another day.

Where the Wild Things Are

My favorite movie review site is Rotten Tomatoes. If you're not familiar with it, they take a bunch of movie critics reviews around the country and take the average. A movie gets either a rotten or fresh tomato. To be fresh the movie needs more than 60% fresh. According to the site 'Where the Wild Things Are' got 71% or an average of 7/10. I wanted to see it and it was either this or 'This is it,' and Ryan refused to go see the MJ movie. Aaron, Jess and Ryan hated the movie, but I liked it. I have a tender spot for any movies with animals. In fact, "King Kong" is one of my favorite movies, I cry everytime. I must admit I got teary eyed at the end and it was really touching to me. It was different, yes, but good.

The Newest HP6 Trailer

This is the 4th trailer for this movie. I've even heard that some people have gotten chocked up with Dumbledore's voiceover at the end. The effects look pretty cool, don't you think? I don't think I could be more excited for this movie. Maybe a midnight showing is required. There are only three movies left!

Harry Potter Sets His Final Date

The seventh and concluding film in the series will open July 15, 2011

Mark your calendar: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II will be released July 15, 2011, Warner Bros. has announced.

Part I of the film will open Nov. 19, 2010, the studio said last August. Both films are based on the 608-page seventh book in author J.K. Rowling's series.

In all, the first five Harry Potter movies, with a maturing Daniel Radcliffe in the lead, have made $4.5 billion internationally, surpassing the box-office records of both the James Bond and Star War series.

Happy New Year

We had a great time New Year's Eve. We went over to Kelly's house (our SVP) and had sushi, lots of laughs and Karaoke. We are so excited for 2009. It's going to be a wonderful year! Yesterday we went and saw Valkyrie, which was very good and went out to eat at Rodizio Grill, yum.

Kung Fu Panda

Everybody loves Kung Fu fighting!

Enthusiastic, big and a little clumsy, but who isn't? Ryan and I loved this movie. Ryan laughed so hard he even shed some tears. And who knew Dustin Hoffman, and Jackie Chan were voices in it? Be sure to rent KUNG FU PANDA.

Will Smith received an Academy Award® nominee for it, but I didn't really like it. It was a lot different than I expected and I really didn't enjoy it. It was painful to watch. What did you think?

Prince Caspian

We rented this movie the other night. We LOVED the first Chronicles of Narnia, but to be honest, this one was just O.K. Ryan almost fell asleep because it was a really slow beginning. I was confused numerous times during it. I just thought there wasn't enough details. It probably didn't help that It's been two years since I saw the last one...what did you think of it?

Leatherheads

I love my free redbox Mondays! Ryan works evenings now, again, which means that I'm all by my lonesome. I took advantage last night and rented Leatherheads. I heard it was good, and I really enjoyed it! That John Krasinski is a charmer. I couldn't help but be reminded of The Office when he gave those same looks. (All you fans out there know what I'm talking about.) I really loved Renée Zellweger in this as well. She's so cute! Let me know what you guys thought of it!

Did you know the movie The Count of Monte Cristo was made in Chicago in 1908? Since then there have been numerous hits filmed in Chicago. We all love such movies such as Somewhere in Time (1979), Uncle Buck (1989) When Harry Met Sally (1988),
Planes, Trains & Automobiles (1987), Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1985), Sixteen Candles (1983), National Lampoon's Vacation (1982), Risky Business (1982), Save the Last Dance, Return to Me (1999), Hope Floats (1997), My Best Friend’s Wedding(1996), Miracle on 34th Street, While You Were Sleeping (1994), The Fugitive (1993), Groundhog Day, Rudy, Sleepless In Seattle, Meet the Parents (1992), Wayne's World (1991), and all 3 Home Alone's. Did you know they were all filmed in Chicago? Along with many others, Eagle Eye was also filmed in Chicago.

Pirates 4?

I just found out that Johnny Depp has signed to do the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Really? After the last one...well, I didn't really like it. He's also doing the Mad Hatter in Disney's Alice in Wonderland, teaming up again with..guess who? Yep, Tim Burton. That will be awesome! I can already see the exaggerated costumes, hair and makeup. What do you guys think?

Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince

This was by far my favorite Harry Potter book. Wow! Did you know that the young Voldemort is being played by Ralph Fiennes nephew? Neat. I..can't...wait for Nov. 21. That's all I have to say...

Sorry about all the movie reviews...maybe I should become a critic! I feel lame because these movies are on video and all of you have already probably seen them already, but oh well. I do enjoy reading your comments.This movie was interesting. Very unlike I had anticipated. I had heard good things about it. First of all, did anyone else think the professor was awful? I couldn't believe how he manipulated the students and if they didn't do things "his way" he failed them! Also, it was kind of an awkward teacher/student relationship, wouldn't you agree? Something just felt wrong about it... a secret gambling club, that just brings up tons of red flags for me. Secondly, it was dumb of the kid to hide his money in the ceiling, I mean, c'mon! With that much you better believe it's going straight to the bank! I felt kind of bad at the end when he tricked the professor. What ever happened to "do unto others" or "forgive and forget." I know I would've probably done the same thing though. That's a lot of money to lose. And then to have to give it to that dumb security guy at the end. I had the end figured out though, I knew he'd end up getting the scholarship anyway, so it all turned out in the end, right?

Moral: gambling is addictive and can control your life. Just say no! Nice idea though, can you imagine?

The Dark Knight

*spoiler alert*

We used our free tickets and took our neighbor's to see "The Dark Knight" Saturday night. The Joker definately stole the show. Amazing. Batman's "evil" voice drove me nuts. I'm a little confused by a few things...what was with the ending? Who was supposed to get Rachel? I thought it would leave a clue about the next one, if there is going to be one, but no! I'm surprised they killed off Two-Face so quickly. He would've been a great villain.. oh well. I agree with what all the critics say about Heath Ledger's performance, but I don't think it's the best movie of the year. I think I enjoyed "Iron Man" much more.

No competition!

Ryan and I used to have Netflix; however, we have now converted to Redbox. We can get 4 free movies a month from Redbox, instead of paying $10 a month with Netflix. I know, we're cheap skates...Sign up at the website and they will text you with a coupon code every Monday for a free rental. It's great! Last night we watched "I Am Legend." I know that "Hancock" is the Will Smith movie out now, but we're trying to catch up! We were scared out of our minds! I didn't really enjoy the end, but what can ya do. Ryan decided it would be funny to scare me in the bathroom. I almost cried and started hitting and kicking him, then I locked him out of the bathroom. I was screaming at the tv during this scene:

Movie Review:

We had time to sneak in a movie with the fam on July 4th. I really enjoyed Wall-E. It's got a unique story and a lot of good messages. There is some controversy regarding how weight is portrayed in this film because people are carted around in floating chairs and never look away from their video monitors. Some reviewers even said: “From the first moment of the film, my kids were bombarded with leftist propaganda about the evils of mankind.” Shannen Coffin of the National Review “I looked at my wife and I said, it’s a frickin’ global warming movie, it is how we destroyed the Earth.” Glenn Beck.

In reality, this movie took a look at what's happening now to a logical conclusion-one that people should think about. It's not preachy by any means. The overweight people are nice, and the moral of the story? You can change things if you try.

Get Smart!

Ryan and I went to see 'Get Smart' Friday night with his brother Aaron and his fiance Jessica. They had already seen it, and we've been wanting to since it came out. As you know, we're huge Office fans and I heard that if you like the Office you'll love this movie. We did! We were laughing so hard at times our eyes would water. I recommend it highly.
