Is my calendar deceiving me or is April 1st tomorrow? And WHY did I wake up and see this out my balcony window? It better not snow on my birthday...

A night at the movies..

My work had a meeting last night at Jordan Commons. It was a lot of fun and just made me more proud of the company I work for. We got a free showing of 10,000 BC afterwards and Ryan was able to join me. It wasn't the best movie I've seen, but it was entertaining.

Spring?

What's with the 45 degree weather and rain? Today is the first day of spring, but it seems more like winter still. Is anyone else just dying to see (and feel) the sun? It's supposed to be in the 60's by Tuesday, so maybe no more storms? Everyone cross your fingers!

Weekend with family

I love having 2/3 of my siblings living within 14 miles of us. We get to see each other often, and it's always a good time! On Friday night we went to a long time family friend's reception. Saturday night I went to my sister's house to plays games, and on Sunday we all got together at my parent's house for more games! My oldest sister is pregnant, due on 09/11. (We hope it's born on our anniversary and not on 09/11!) Ryan works Sundays, and he decided to wait and surprise me after church to tell me he didn't have to work. It was so nice to be able to be with him the whole day on Sunday. We don't see a lot of each other because he works nights and weekends and I work days, so I LOVE when he's actually home with me.

Aminis

Meet Aminis. He is from Kosrae. Ryan met him on his mission. His family just recently moved to Utah, from Minnesota and Ryan has been helping them get settled. They don't speak a lot of English so Ryan is helping out. I met them two nights ago, and love them so much. They are such a wonderful family and I'm glad I've been able to meet them and help them. They've been living with Lucy's (Aminis' wife) brother in Salt Lake for a few weeks and last night we helped them move into a house. They live humbly and are so greatful for everything. They sold all their belongings to move here, so they have nothing. Luckily they were able to transfer to the Wal-Mart near their home, where they both work. They invited us to a birthday party last night for their nephew Brody. Their was food a plenty and I got to try my first Kosraen dish. It's called sikyuki and is made from papaya and has turkey tail in it. Very interesting. Everything has been working out perfectly for them as far as getting their jobs lined up and finding them a place to live. We pray for them and hope that nothing unfortunate happens to them. Meeting them has put my life into prospective and made me view my priorities differently. I look forward to much more time with them. It's been fun to hear Ryan talk with them. I'm glad he's getting lots of practice! FYI here are some Kosraen words. I'm trying to learn it!

And that's a wrap!

The 2008 Utah Legislature is over and guess what bill passed? That's right! Severe abuse or torture of domestic cats and dogs can be a felony on the first offense. It's about time! I'm glad this bill finally got passed. Watch out all you sickos! Thanks to all who voiced their opinion and helped it happen. Also:
- St. George will get a $39 million "bridge loan" from the state to allow it to immediately start building a new airport northeast of the city.
-Airlines, especially Delta, will get a tax break. Legislators want to encourage Delta to keep its hub in SLC by providing a $5.7 million tax break.
-About $100 million will be spent on plans for the $1.85 billion rebuilding of I-15 in UT County.
-SLC will get some special funds to help the UTA build a TRAX line to SLC Airport. (I love this one b/c it will save us on tons of gas!)

I saw this on my ex-favorite news site and thought it was so funny! The car we bought last week takes Premium gas, so it's hurtin'. Good thing we don't have a child!

Deal or No Deal?

At my work I got to play Deal or No Deal today for a chance to win $500! I was doing so well... it was down to two cases....$300 and $12.00. Do I take the deal or chance it for $300? Not wanting to walk away with only $12.00, I took the $120 deal. I switched cases and voula! It would have been the $300! I was sad, but still glad I got $120! Did I mention how I love my job?
