Pioneer Day

For the Holiday I went with Syd and some of her family to the parade. Ryan was playing in a softball tournament, more on that later. It was hot, but fun.

Splish Splash

My sister-in-law and her girls came into town the last week in June for a short visit. It was great to see them and be able to visit. Monday evening some family friends came over and the kids enjoyed a slip'n'slide.

some kids enjoyed it more than others. Ha ha

Grandma Leithead

My grandma passed away on June 17. I am so grateful that my whole family, (aunts, uncles and cousins) was able to be there for the funeral on June 24th, minus 3 grandkids. Growing up we didn't get to visit my grandparents very often since they lived in Texas. I always wished that we were closer to my dad's side of the family. I learned so much about her from the funeral and I'm so grateful for her example and life. My grandpa died in 1997, so my Grandma's been alone for so many years. It was so nice to visit her home and be with family that I haven't seen since the reunion in 2005. We took so many pictures. If you're interested you can view them all through this link on facebook: http://bit.ly/bP8akL

Cheesy Pictures

I wanted to get a picture with my sister before she left. Here's our cheesy "family picture."

Do you think we look alike? Oh, and her dress? She made it herself. She's made one each month this year and is amazing at all things sewing. Check out her blog to see the rest of them. Of course, I had to get more of this guy...

Poor guy fell down and scraped his head on the ground.
Tara I miss you already!! Hope to see you soon.

Diamond Rio Concert

My mom got us tickets to the Diamond Rio concert for the South Jordan town days. My mom grew up in St. George and went to High School with Danny Truman, the keyboardist in Diamond Rio. Danny's dad actually dated my grandma in college too and came to my grandpa's funeral last year.

Mom with her friend Jan (also from St. George)

We had a fun time singing along. They were great!

Everett Family Reunion

Ryan's mom planned an Everett family reunion last month for the Everett side. We started out Friday morning hiking to Ensign Peak with all the cousins. We had a banner and at the top we all signed our names.

Nice fake smile Lyss.

We drove past the capitol, what a beautiful building.

After lunch we met everyone at the Heber Valley Girl's Camp. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate and it was cold and rainy the whole time. That night we had some group building activities but we were only able to do two of the three cause it was a downpour. The first activity was a zip line. We had to climb straight up a pole, shimmy across a rope then go down the zip line.

Ryan heading up the pole. You can see how high it was

We had to shimmy across this rope using the hanging ropes. The ropes got further apart as you went. It was scary!

I think this is Aaron..
and here's a video of me

For the next activity we had to get everyone from one side to the other through this spider web. Once we used a hole it was closed off and the holes were different sizes and heights. It really started raining here, you can see how wet we were, but we all made it through.

Not a very good video, but you can see the web

The next day was spent doing crafts, skits, and eating lots of food. The boys talked near the fire pit most of the time and Jessica and I stayed warm near the heater in the kitchen. Overall we had a nice time and we really enjoyed visiting family and getting to know them more!
